All organisms need to adapt to their habitat to be able to survive. This means adapting to be able to survive the climatic conditions of the ecosystem, predators, and other species that compete for the same food and space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In nature, these resources are often limited, and individuals within a population must compete for resources in order to survive. Long-term survival of a species is based on obtaining resources that are limited, so that individuals can live and reproduce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Every ecosystem has certain species that are critical to the survival of the other species in the system. The keystone species could be a huge predator or an unassuming plant, but without them the ecosystem may not survive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
