The desire to move up in the world

The desire to move up in the world, to self-actualise, to become someone worthy and respected, is a basic human desire for everyone who wants to experience life and participate in life as a whole happy human being.

Warren Buffett always advised that success relies on surrounding yourself with the right people. He said, “You will move in the direction of the people that you associate with. So it’s important to associate with people that are better than yourself.”

As the famous saying goes, we are the average of the five people we spend the most time with. Make sure to associate with those further along the path who can potentially help you learn new things, grow, and advance your career.

If this is so, someone in the group will lead the others because they joined people better than them meaning they allowed someone, not as good as them in the group, which means they will have to leave the group and find someone else better than that group’s best will leave and join another as someone less better joined their group and so on.

So it’s not about joining a group that’s better than you, but a group with more diverse skills and qualities, not everyone has, so they can learn from each other.

So it’s not being in a group that’s better than you, but different from you, that inspire you in some ways, maybe it’s passion, vision, preparation, courage, perseverance and integrity, people ith the same values.

What you should look for are people higher up in the social hierarchy.
